This beetle corresponds in part to the description of Leontium punctigerum by Pascoe, but some details are different. Comes from "Cameron Highlands", Malaysia. 27 mm. Do you have any other idea? |

Posted - 26/06/2012 : 22:01:07 I just read the revision of Stenochroma. This species has the typical antennae of Stenochroma punctigerum (Pascoe, 1869), while the authors quoted a size up to 20 mm. |

Posted - 05/06/2011 : 23:52:18 The size was the primary reason that caused me doubt. I guess 16 mm is given by Podany after Pascoe. Pascoe wrote 8 lines. One line is 1/12 of inch or approximately 2 mm. So, 8 lines should be 16 mm indeed, but my beetle measures 27 mm. Spiny antennae and the rest of the description (which frankly speaking could fit many Chelidonium species) were the main features leading to S. punctigerum. But you are obviously right, there might be other described species with similar antennae. |

According to Podaný, the type was 16 mm long but it was completely unknown to him. More recently, several species have been described, but I do not know them. |
