It it about two relatively old species, which were treated in the Biologia Centrali Americana (p. 27, as Nepahlius). But there are not keys and some data are erroneous: N. nigriventris was described in 1874, here, p. 220.
The descriptor as well was doubtful about the genus Stizocera, but the antennae of this species are black with red scape, while those of N. rutilus are all black.
Hence, I think that Nephalioides nigriventris (Bates, 1874) is the right ID. |

A paper on these would be welcome, indeed. Nephalioides seems to fit, of course. A photo is not always enough for being sure about a precise identification. If you can find something it would be great! |

With those antennal spines it can belong only to Elaphidiini.
It is very similar to some Stizocera and Psyrassa, but I think it is a female of Nephalioides.
If you agree, I look for the keys to this genus. |
