The situation for this genus appears quite complex: according to Vives (Cahiers Magellanes no. 88) Filipinmulciber differs from Bumetopia in its shortened elytra and protruding humeri (based on the holotype of Filipinmulciber breuningi, other distinguishing features appear to be the length of the metafemora, reaching or exceeding the elytral tip - a rare occurrence for Homonoeini - and the marked convexity of the distal half of the elytra).
But, at this point, at least Bumetopia conspersa (Aurivillius, 1924) (Brachyhomonoea conspersa Aurivillius, mutated to Bumetopia conspersa by Breuning in his revision of the Homonoeini) should be moved to the genus Filipinmulciber, having the same characteristics, very different from the "typical" Bumetopia.
Another problem of this kind are the 'forms' of Filipinmulciber breuningi illustrated in the Arvids Barševskis article: New species of the genus Filipinmulciber Vives, 2009 from the Philippines, which are difficult to consider conspecific (question already raised in the post of Xavier: 06/11/2016). The species illustrated in figure 2 B seems to correspond to my species (the species illustrated in figure 2 C of the cited work, however, seems very similar to Bumetopia intermedia...).
Moreover, as already noted in the cited post, Filipinmulciber palawanus Vives, 2015 also appears to be extraordinarily different from the type-species.
