Strange indeed. Blepephaeus leucosticticus is found in Sulawesi but should have a long apical marginal spine in an elytron. B. varius should have just an acute marginal spine and coarse punctuation in the elytra base, which seems to be the case, but this species comes from Philippines. Any possibility of a locality mistake?
I wish a Happy New Year to all here! |

I have found the original picture of Blepephaeus varius (Heller, 1898), originally described from Sulawesi,... I do not really recognize Breuning's description, but my specimens might correspond to it.
 Cereopsius varius Heller, 1898
It is no possibility of mistakes, I have received this species with many other typical Sulawesian species together. |

Strange mistake with locality in my keys. Well, then it is B. varius for the characters I listed above... if no other mistakes. |
