Gontran recently posted a photo of this species.
I believe Schwarzer described (and illustrated) this species as Niphona mucronata in 1931.
Breuning inexplicably moved it to the genus Paretaxalus which has little resemblance.
Larry B. has this species incorrectly illustrated under Sesiosa subfasciata.
I have 8 specimens, ranging in size from 10 to 15 mm, with males being mostly closer to 10-11 mm.
Since the type of mucronata is in Germany, I'm just suggesting that you look at it. |

| I saw Gontran's specimen when I posted this picture, and it looked different. But I don't know how much this species can vary. |

| some confusions again like everywhere: maybe Pariproca spinipennis and Niphona mucronata are the same (Dan do you have both sexes with such long extented elyral apex ?), then Sesiosa is quite different, and what's about Sesiosa laosensis Breuning, 1968, this belongs to Synixais ??? |

| I believe I have both sexes. Males are 10-11mm, females 14-15mm. I haven't examined them closely. Males have longer antennae (as would be expected). Both sexes have similar (attenuated) elytral apex. Markings on elytra are very similar as well. The biggest problem for me is that all 4 males are about the same size and all 4 females are about the same size. My early belief was that I had 2 species, but now I believe they could be the same. |

| So, we can exclude the genus Sesiosa, otherwise with bad type pictures it is difficult and makes hasty conclusions |
