496.6 KB 29 mm, Thailande, Tak Province, Umphang. Aristobia angustifrons Gahan, 1888 male.
432.99 KB 31 mm, Thailande, Chiang Rai Province, Wiang Papao. Aristobia angustifrons Gahan, 1888 female.
This species is distinguished from the closely related Aristobia voetii Thomson, 1878 not by the hairiness at the apex of the fourth antennal segment, but by a comparison of the genitalia. I shall post a photograph of a couple A. voetii tomorrow. |

445.43 KB 35 mm, female. Laos, Luang Prabang Province, Kuang Si. Probably A. angustifrons, as Aristobia laosensis Jiroux et al., 2014 has brown spots rather than black ones, and the apex of the scape lacks long black hairs; although this specimen has the apex of the fourth antennal segment without a tuft of hairs, and the mesosternal apophysis is less developed than in the specimen from Thailand posted above. Regarding A. laosensis, the claim that this species is restricted to southern Laos is incorrect, as their published data cite Vientiane and Vang Vieng, two localities in northern Laos.
