Posted - 28/03/2013 : 10:14:54 I am no a specialist from south America fauna... but darker legs, black pronotal band anteriorly united... I'd say Odontocera ornaticollis.
In all case, ornaticollis is the older species and I do not know if auropilosa is really valid. In fact, in the original description, Tippmann confronted his new species to O. triliturata Bates 1870 (here), a species that has nothing to do with auropilosa. Evidently, I did not know ornaticollis |

Posted - 28/03/2013 : 08:03:31 Hi, What a nice species ! It's not a Lepturinae, but a Cerambycinae , Rhinotragini.
It's a Odontocera , but there are many close species :
Odontocera auropilosa Tippmann 1953 ? http://plant.cdfa.ca.gov/byciddb/details.asp?id=3905 or Odontocera ornaticollis Bates 1870 http://plant.cdfa.ca.gov/byciddb/details.asp?id=3959
Let's wait a specialist from south America fauna... |
