Yes Len, the problem is related to the sampling area of your specimen. The samples labelled "ornaticolle" of the site "prioninae of the world" originate from Sumatra while the hainanense species is mainly mentioned from China (hainanense legrandi from Malaysia / Sabah and Pahang). However, I found a quote (Gressit) from Sumatra for hainanense and for hainanense legrandi (Komiya & Drumont) in the Titan database.
Attached is a picture of a male hainanense legrandi for comparison.

Claude, I understood what you said. I have looked at Prioninae of the World and the hainanensis / hainanensis legrandi group look more my specimen.
I look forward to anyones input and opinion.
Len

Len, in fact i just say that your specimen seems to correspond to the "type" labelled as ornaticolle in the museeum of Poland (see http://prioninae.eu/taxonomy/aegosoma/ornaticolle and select the specimen from Sumatra).
But I'm not sure that these specimen have the good determination !!

Very interesting Claude. This specimen was infact labelled as A.ornaticollis ? but I was not convinced. I will do a little more research myself, but I would say you are probably correct. Thank you

For me there is still a problem with the specimens of Aegosoma from Sumatra island deposited at the Poland museeum and labelled as ornaticolle "type" !? Your insect in the picture would correspond to these specimens but for me they are not ornaticolle. I would rather say belonging to the hainanensis / hainanensis legrandi group.
