By looking to the type, Thranius ornatus Gressitt & Rondon, 1970 I think, known from central Laos and Thailand. |

Not at all. Please, check the type again. And check also the key provided with the description.
T. ornatus lives in Laos and Vietnam (and may be, NE Thailand?), while from Burma, across S Thailand to (peninsular) Malaysia you can find T. fryanus fryanus Gahan, 1906 + its subspecies in Borneo.
Although the type is not currently present in London (very long term loan it seems), checking the other specimens from Burma, the key in GR1970 and the description by Holzschuh (2011), I found your specimen should be T. fryanus fryanus. |
