Data: 17-06-87 - Gerede - Bolu Province - Black Sea Region Height 1400m -Turkey

Dorcadion, for me are quite possibly the hardest of genus to seperate.

This one is from an old collection and even has Anatolia on the data label (Now part of Turkey).
It is on the small side for Dorcadion.
The label also says Dorcadion pararufipennis but this doesn't seem to be a valid species?

Thoughts please.

In Titan database, Dorcadion (Cribridorcadion) pararufipenne Braun, 1976 is a valid species from Turkey. I do not know if it's your species, but the name fits with the color of the body.

On this page, you can compare with a specimen.

Thanks a lot. I did ponder that species as it was the most similar in name to the data label, but... mine doesn't seem to have a pale lateral stripe dividing the elytra.

Ben, I have one specimen determined as D. (Cribridorcadion) pararufipenne rassei Braun, 1976.
Very similar to your specimen, with no white hair stripe along the suture, and brown reddish tip of elytra. I can't make a clear photo but I compared with the binocular (x20). From Turkey, Bolu, 2 Juin 1983.

Thank you, I guess variation must play a part in this species then.
