14 mm, male. Luang Prabang, Laos.

I’d like to revisit this species, which has been posted on the forum several times, either by myself or by others.
Three species with a similar appearance, belonging to the genus Epepeotes Pascoe, 1866, have been considered:
- Epepeotes birmanus Breuning, 1969 from Myanmar (type specimen in the gallery). Length 11 mm.
- Epepeotes laosicus Breuning, 1965 from Laos. Length 13-14 mm.
- Epepeotes strandi (Breuning, 1935) = (Pelargoderus strandi Breuning, 1935 (type specimen in the gallery) = Epepeotes quadriplagiatus Breuning, 1936) from Andaman Islands. Length 15 mm.

My Laotian specimens have a slightly trapezoidal forehead, with a grey longitudinal median stripe; the lower eye lobes are longer than the cheeks; the third antennal segment is slightly longer than the fourth; and the apex of the elytra is rounded.

Cross-referencing Breuning’s descriptions, only Epepeotes strandi (Breuning, 1935), illustrated in XIE et al., 2023, The collection of the genus Epepeotes Pascoe, 1866 housed in the Natural History Museum, London, exhibits these characters. The overall appearance of the Andaman type specimens is, however, slightly different (elytral colouration).
